Why most weight loss programs fail?
It is a fact that most weight loss programs fail or better said the majority of people who try to lose weight fail. As a result the percentage of people who are overweight or obese is constantly increasing making this one of the most critical health problems of our society. Unfortunately this is also true for children and teenagers making the problem more serious. The most common reasons of why people fail to lose weight are:
1. Many of the diets and programs available have no long term weight loss goals. This means that they may help you lose some weight initially but as soon as you stop the diet or pills you get the weight you lost back and probably some more.
2. People who follow weight loss programs on a regular basis are more likely to become overweight than people who follow healthy principles to maintain their weight.
3. Strict or deprivation diets can trigger other more serious health problems such as arrhythmia or high blood pressure.
4. If you try and lose too much weight very fast then you body enters a ‘protective’ mode and this reduces the metabolism which makes weight loss very slow and difficult.
5. Being on a diet or taking pills to lose weight is tiring and many people quit after a couple of months or weeks.
6. Diets that suggest that you eat too little or nothing may create other undesirable effects such as bulimia or anorexia.
7. People who tried unsuccessfully to lose weight they also lose confidence in themselves. Their self esteem is reduced and they find it very difficult to make the effort again and thus they end up with more weight and no confidence.
In order to succeed in losing weight you need to take into account several guidelines that are based on healthy practices. By doing so you ensure that you will not gain the weight back and you also improve your health and well-being. Such practices are outlined below.
1. Stay away from weight loss products that prohibit the consumption of certain food groups and avoid rapid weight loss diets.
2. Follow a careful diet by excluding food items that are high in fat
3. Reduce the quantities of food you eat but do not skip meals especially breakfast
4. Eat at regular intervals
5. Eat fruits and vegetables on a daily basis
6. Prefer low fat dairy products
7. Exercise regularly and try to keep an active lifestyle
These are the most common reasons why weight loss diets fail and by knowing this you should try and avoid them. Weight loss is a process that needs a lot of patience and sometimes takes time. If you really want to lose weight and you are willing to take the effort then at the end you will succeed.
