What Is An Electric Go Cart

So what exactly is an electric go kart? An electric go kart is a motorized vehicle meant for off road entertainment. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes, but all of them have some common traits.
First of all, the go karts in question are electrically operated as opposed to gas powered go karts. electric go carts use a battery or several batteries of varing sizes to power an electric motor and turn the wheels. This means there is no nasty gas smell or dangerous fumes to contend with. The trade off, of course, is that gas powered go karts are usually faster and more powerful than their electric go kart cousins. This also means that go karts powered by electric motors are often considered safer go karts to own and operate and more suitable to children or teens.

Now let us discuss what is meant by off road entertainment. A go kart quite a different vehicle than a four wheeled ATV, also meant for off road use, but there are some similarities as well. The most important note about being an off road vehicle is that you cannot get license plates for a go kart and it is not permissible to drive them on roadways or streets. Go karts do not have turn signals, break lights or even headlights and therefore do not meet the standards for on road driving, especially in traffic. A go kart is basically a toy, meant for entertainment in a safe, no traffic environment. Fields, parks or open spaces are often used as go karting venues. In some places tracks exist for go karting enthusiasts to gather and race or ride together.

An electric go cart will typically have two peddles. The one on the right is for acceleration and the one on the left is the brake. A centrally located steering wheel and driver’s seat is used as most electric go karts do not have any place for a passenger or cargo. Larger two seat varieties can sometimes be found, however. The electric motor is situated behind the seat and turns the rear wheels. Go karts typically sit low to the ground and have small tires so their performance in sand or mud is poor. That about sums up an electric go kart. The are fun to ride and fun to own as long as you use them properly.
