Treating ADD and ADHD has not been an easy road for the medical field to travel down. They have seen the bad side effects of medicine and the continous degenerative effects of some therapy. So, according to some of the latest medical studies, the medical field is starting to turn to more tradition methods, like the rocking motion of a rocking chair. This rocking chair therapy is proving to soothe the nerves of children who suffer from attention deficit and hyperactive disorders. While it calms the child with the rocking rythm it also helps them focus on what they are learning at that particular time. The ADD chair is becoming a favorite of the education system. Not only does this special chair help children in school, but parents are using it to help their kids with homework and with focus (otherwise known as attention).
The relaxing motion of a rocking childs chair is providing the needed balance of constant moving while being able to focus on more logical subjects. Children are able to stay moving while still listening and focusing on their teacher as well as their shcool books. Constructive participation has seen an increase as well because of the childs desire to focus instead of disrupting the class.
Parents have teamed up with some schools by having their children use an ADHD chair while they read at home. Medical experts and educators are now encouraging parents to place childs rocking chairs throughout the home.
It is truly amazing to me how the old-fashioned rocking chair is helping children with their attention and with their learning. It is helping them in the classroom and at home. The chair is becoming a great asset for children with ADD/ADHD. We are very hopeful that children will begin to learn at an increased rate simply because they now can focus as they rock the hours away.
