Is Computer Surge Protection Necessary?
Have you ever considered using surge protection on your electrical equipment? Me neither to be honest but I have been reading about these devices recently and have been thinking about getting one for my home to protect my computer from surges in power and also to save myself some money.
I’m the type of person who likes to spend as little money as possible on things I don’t particularly need which is why I have never contemplated getting on of these devices before, I just feel like it would be a waste of my money. But having spent all my hard earned cash on a top of the range computer system it might be worth my while to install something that could protect it in the event of a power surge, don’t you think?
First of all after hearing that I needed to buy one of these I had to find out what exactly they were supposed to be protecting me from. Well, according to those in the know occasionally there are events which cause the amount of electricity which comes through your socket to rise sharply and unexpectedly. Because your electrical equipment was designed to run on a certain amount of power this rise could overload your system and cause irreparable and very expensive damage.

The thing is, I have been using computer equipment for 25 years and have never even thought about using this device before and this fact has never done me any harm. Am I the only one that thinks buying a surge protector is overkill. I don’t know, maybe computer users all over the world are having their machines blow up all the time because they aren’t taking this precaution, I might just be lucky. If you have any stories about computer surge protection and whether they are worth shelling out the cash on then leave me a comment and let me know.
