Don’t sweat bullets in your office or home during the summer! Get a window air conditioning unit! Don’t know how to install one? Don’t sweat it! They are easy to install and remove. Window air conditioning units come with detailed instructions, but not all instruction manuals tell you about the little tricks you can do to make installation easier for you.
Remember that Window Air Conditioning Units only work for windows that pull up.
Read on if you have a window that pulls up.
First, be sure you install your air conditioner during daytime hours because it will be easier to see what you are doing and it will keep bugs away.. Have your supplies out and ready before you unpack the window air conditioning unit. Don’t forget to remove the window screen too.
Open the window all the way so you can give yourself extra working room. It would be nice to have someone there to push the window down when the time comes.
The front of the air conditioner (it has dials and the plug) should face the inside of the room. The back (it has vents that will let water drip out) should hang outside. Put the unit carefully on the window sill, facing the right way. The unit should have ridges around the perimeter to show where it should line up with the window.
After that, slide open the side panels as tightly over as you can. Have the top sash of the window lowered slowly and carefully until it comes into firm contact with the top of the unit. The frame should be very tight, to keep the window from falling. Lighten your grip slowly, and if the conditioner wobbles, then the sash isn’t down tightly enough. After securing it, put in the foam around any cracks, and paper towels if necessary. Then plug it in, and enjoy!
