How to Grow Your MLM Downline

05-12-2010 by Timmy

In multi-level marketing, how well your business performs has a lot to do with how well your downlines generate income and expands theirs and hence your business. When it comes to downlines, the multiplication factor will trump the addition factor. MLM is expands with each level, so geometric progression should be expected. Would you know how to grow your MLM downline to explode your profits?

Recruitment is not enough

Many MLM business owners make the mistake of doing blind recruiting wherein they invite anyone and everyone who shows interest. This is a mistake. Not every person who might be interested in the business may be a good match. Look at personality, background, trainability, willingness to learn, type of network, ability to communicate and make follow ups and of course, leadership ability. These are people who you want to build your business with you, people who understand what is expected of them and are willing to work hard to meet the bottomline.

Can you lead a horse to water?

Absolutely, but having them drink is another matter altogether. When you’re looking for leaders, they should come to you. If you have to chase them just to get them to work with you, your partnership isn’t probably going to work. Once you begin training your mlm downline, you should only spend the bulk of your training with them initially and about 20% of your time thereafter. If you’re spending more, you will need to re-examine your organization and your setup.

Make training a priority

Although the basic principles of MLM are generally the same, specific businesses have specific rules and information that are exclusive to them. Selling beauty and health products, for example, is different from selling vacations and cruises. Make sure that your downlines benefit from solid training right from the get-go. Start a newsletter campaign. Manage your website. Use network marketing software to hone the selling skills of your mlm downline to make them more effective in the industry. Good network marketing software can also assist in the training process by leading new downline members through the specifics of the day to day running of the business.

MLM is one of the most fiercely competitive fields in business. To survive, you need to work smarter, not just harder. Make sure your downlines are well-chosen and well-trained for success. By doing this, you place yourself in a position where your downline members will quickly begin to replicate your efforts and your business will begin to explode.
