Common and uncommon cosmetic surgery for men

We all want to look our best when it comes to our bodies and faces. This is a natural instinct and is important for the survival of our race, as we search for beauty to be attractive to the opposite sex. The drive to look better has spun a multi billion dollar industry that gives us new products and procedures each year. Lately, men have also caught on to this, and it is not uncommon for them to undergo cosmetic surgery any longer, just like women have done for ages.

The most common cosmetic surgery for men is nose jobs. The runner up is eyelid surgery. Both these procedures require a bit of growing and healing after surgery, but are pretty uncomplicated. Prices range from $2000 and go all the way up to $12.000 depending on the work that is to be done. Lately, endoscopic surgery has been developed and used successfully, especially on eyebrow surgery, as a substitute for a face life, which means that we are seeing cosmetic surgery head towards more effective and minimally invasive techniques, shortening recovery time and pain after surgery.

There are also the more “exotic” kinds of cosmetic surgery. An example is breast implants for men. Not many of these procedures are done each year, but there is demand from men who either are transsexuals, cross dressers, and gender benders. Their motivation is the same as for everyone else undergoing plastic surgery, to find happiness and fulfillment in their lives.

This last sentence is important. Cosmetic surgery can be the right choice for many people, but it can also be an excuse for fixing the inner problems in one’s life. If you are lacking self-esteem or confidence, you might want to tackle that before you let someone cut you with a knife. This can be done in support groups, with the help of friends, a coach, or even a psychologist. The point is that you should consider carefully whether an operation will actually help you get happiness in your life.
