Avatar The Last Airbender is a television cartoon show that is regularly displayed on the Nickelodeon channel. The show emphasizes Chinese fighting techniques (e.g., Ba Gua, Tai Chi, Shaolin, etc.) and use of elemental manifestations. Aang himself, the main protagonist of the series, is an “air nomad” (i.e., someone who is fluent with “airbending”) and the current avatar. As an avatar, Aang has the potential to master all the “bending skills”, i.e., Airbending, Waterbending, Earthbending, Firebending, and the unique “bending” skill, Energybending. Aang was trapped in an iceberg for one-hundred years making his chronological age one-hundred and twelve, although, biologically and mentally, he’s actually twelve. When he “awakens” from the ice cube, he sees that the world is dominated by war, and that the fire nation, under the leadership of firelord Ozai, has declared war on the other nations. Unfortunately, in waging the wars with the other nations, Ozai managed to destroy all the other air nomands, thus making Aang unique in being the “last airbender”. Aang, then, realizes that it is up to him to put an end to the fire nation’s domination of the world by mastering the other “bending” talents. Despite having lost all of his comrades, he keeps a calm, humorous, aloof demeanor. In helping him overcome the fire nation, he befriends many individuals, some of whom he has known for awhile, including: Appa (i.e., his trusty bison), Monk Gyatso (i.e., a fatherly figure who teaches him the ways of fighting), Kotara, Sokka, Toph and, interestingly, Zuko (i.e., the son of the fire lord), et al. Despite the difficult tasks, Aang and his comrades defeat Ozai and establish Zuko as the new peaceful and harmonious fire lord of the fire nation.

Adults find constipation detestable – how much more would it be for a toddler? Adults have feeling of bloating and gassiness when they are constipated. This too is the effect on toddlers. What makes the matter worse – toddlers can hardly express their pain. They just cry frantically. As a mother, I feel so distraught whenever I hear the cries of my toddler. These are the things I did and was successful in restoring the regular bowel movement of my toddler.

Their first culprit that I needed to tackle was the food eaten by my toddler. Well, it is a fact that very few children want to eat vegetables. Processed foods such as hotdogs and bacon are my daughter’s favorite. Fruits and vegetables are hardly eaten such that fiber is lacking in her diet.

So – I tried to add fresh fruits like bananas and apples in her morning cereals. I boiled several vegetables – broccoli, cauliflower, green leafy vegetables and carrots. Whatever vegetables were available, I steamed or boiled. Then, I threw them in my blender. I made the resulting puree into soup. With little patience in feeding my toddler, I was successful in ingesting fiber in her diet. And – I instructed her to chew her food completely.

Then the next thing I concentrated on was the fluid intake of my daughter. I squeezed some lemon on warm water, added honey to sweeten and for honey’s dietary fiber. When she did not want to take it from the glass, I filled her bottle with this concoction. At times, instead of lemon, orange juice is substituted. And I didn’t forget to make her drink water every now and then.

I had inside the fridge a supply of the friendly bacteria. I gave her children’s probiotics that were helpful in cleansing her digestive system. This way, stool was easy to push out. Chocolates and other foods with lots of refined sugar were banned in the house. There was no trace of tea and soda inside our refrigerator, instead, I loaded the fridge with fruit juice.

Whenever she complained of stomach ache, I massaged her belly in circular motion then I tried to put her on her potty to induce stool movement. Every morning, I sat her on her potty. Even without actually giving out stool, the training was helpful in making her move her bowel every morning.

I made her do physical activities. I asked her to imitate my dancing and hopping. Then we walked our dog in the park. This way she did not realize I was making her exercise which was important in preventing constipation.

These are only some of the things I did to remedy the constipation problem in my little bundle of joy. These are very simple things yet very beneficial to the health of my toddler. What to do for the constipation of your toddler or child?  It takes patience but like me, healthy diet and fiber-rich foods, lots of liquid, exercise and toilet training can alleviate constipation in your child. The relief of my child is my relief also. And I would do everything for her to continue with the diet regimen I have already started.

The Tumbler: Joker’s Ice-Cream Surprise (#7888) is part of the LEGO Batman series. The set consists of two vehicles. The first being the Joker’s ice cream truck. The second being the Tumbler from the recent Batman Begins and Batman: The Dark Knight movies. The LEGO Batman figures the Joker, and a henchmen are included with the vehicles.

The Joker’s truck has the appearance of an ice cream truck from the 1940′s or 1950′s. It has a color scheme of white, red, and green. It measures 5 inches in length by 2 inches wide. A variety of stickers can be applied to the truck such as “I love (heart) Gotham” and “I Scream”. Emerging from the top of the vehicle is an ice cream cone which, when pushed down, shoots a missile from the back of the truck (when the back doors are opened). The Joker figure is in a purple and orange costume and carries a “BANG” gun. The henchman figure is in purple and black, and has its own gun. Reading to infants at is great. It’s a great way to bond with your baby and to encourage their love of reading in the future. I have a brother who was read to all the time, and he taught himself how to read by the time he was three years old. He watched the game show “Wheel of Fortune” and played along with the game using magnetic letters, blocks, and other toys at his disposal to attempt to solve the puzzle.

However, I don’t promote the “Your Baby Can Read” program. When I first saw the commercial I knew that the program would not work. The baby signs what the picture is.
